Stacey Abrams Says Criticism of DEI an ‘Attack on Democracy’
Stacey Abrams, a Democrat who twice failed in her bid for governor in Georgia, asserted that criticisms of the left's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiative amount to "a threat to democracy." Speaking to MSNBC's Al Sharpton on Monday, Abrams stated, "The opposition to diversity, equity, and inclusion, DEI, is a challenge to democracy, to education, and to the functioning of our economy."
"We should fear the individual seeking to return to the White House, intending to deprive us of our rights, roll back the economic advancements we've achieved, and erode the democracy we cherish," she continued.
Meanwhile, 30 states, such as Texas, Florida, and Utah, have enacted laws prohibiting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives in universities, businesses, and government sectors.
